Heroes of the Hedges

It’s Homecoming!

Each year, the UGA Homecoming Committee, a division of University Union, organizes a week-long celebration for students, residents, and alumni filled with activities, concerts, awareness, and fun!

FRIDAY October 15, 2010

6pm – Homecoming Parade through Downtown Athens

7pm to 11pm – Dawgs After Dark Carnival- Legion Field. Free for students with UGA I.D. and $5 for everyone else.

SATURDAY October 16, 2010

12:20pm UGA vs. Vanderbilt  at Sanford Stadium (Halftime: Crowning of Homecoming King & Queen)

This year’s theme is “Heroes of the Hedges”. Included in this year’s festivities: a blood drive benefitting the American Red Cross, Local Laughs Live Comedy Show, concert which featured multi-Grammy Award winning rapper, Ludacris, tail-gate party at Tate Plaza, homecoming parade featuring appearances by UGA and Athens dignitaries, students, athletes, and the UGA Cheerleaders, and the annual Dawgs after Dark carnival at Legion Field with games, rides, and free food.

Homecoming culminates this Saturday when the Dawgs take on the VanderbiltCommodores at Sanford Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 12:20pm.

This year’s game will prove to be even more special. New mascot, UGA VIII will make his long-awaited debut during a “collaring” ceremony prior to kick-off. And as usual, during halftime, the new homecoming king and queen will be announced. So, get out your best red and black diggs, this is a game you definitely don’t want to miss.From all of us at UGA Style, we hope you have enjoyed your homecoming week thus far.
