Before I came to college, I would have never considered myself a beer enthusiast. I drank an occasional Bud Light here and there, but never really enjoyed beer. All that changed after I started my very own beer card at Pauley’s Original Crepe Bar. The goal of this beer card is simple: drink 100 beers (35 imports, 65 exports) and become a legend. Pauley’s transformed my ideas about beer. Having drank a variety of beers (I have 10 more on my card!) I can honestly say with confidence that I love beer and even consider myself a beer enthusiast. As much as I’d love to tell you all about the beer challenge at Pauley’s, that’s for another post. This post is all about an upcoming beer festival taking place right here in our very own Classic City.

Pictured above is my vivacious 3-year-old rescue dog, Finland. Unlike the courageous acts Balto and Maya from Eight Below found themselves playing out, Finland has taken a more realistic approach to being a husky. She is the ultimate escape artist. No 5-foot-tall fence, doubled up with an additional electric fence barrier, is going to keep this little trickster from embarking on the adventure of a lifetime that her heart so desperately burns for. She is a princess. Think this little diva is going to eat whatever you put in her bowl? Think again. Huskies are notorious for upping their noses at anything less than the best when it come to kibble. Salami that has been left on the coffee table, on the other hand, no problem! She is a black suit’s nightmare. Don’t expect to leave the house in that cute little black dress and not have a tuft of white husky hair attached to your right butt cheek. The Holidays are a time not only to give thanks for all the amazing things you have in your life, but also a time to give back to those in need. I will keep this post short and sweet because the video tells it all. I’m sure many of you know Coby Golinkoff, a Junior at Tulane and on the tennis team. He and his family created a website all about “joining together and leveraging the power of community to make a difference in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.” His friends and family are on a mission not only to save their loving sister, daughter and friend, Emily, but also to save the hundreds of thousands of people with CF, and YOU can help. In just four days, the website has made over $25,000!
