Ever had a burning desire to design a piece of clothing?  Want to get started in the fashion industry but don’t know how?  Well, talented designers unite!  Check out my new favorite site – Velvet Brigade!  Founded by Jena Wang and Lindsay McConnon, Velvet Brigade is a contemporary women’s fashion brand with a revolutionary, grassroots approach to design and product selection.   Aspiring fashion designers, illustrators and hobbyists submit design ideas, while the community comments on designs and votes for their favorites.  Winning designs are put into production, and the designer’s name will be featured on the tag, as well as share the revenue with Velvet Brigade.

Just in time for the fall weather, Velvet Brigade has launched their latest challenge: the Fall Layering Piece.  Tweed, Trim, Fur & Fringe.  Cape, Crop, Drape & Shine. So take that, and run with it! Submit your designs to Velvet Brigade anytime from now until October 31^st for a chance to turn your sketch into reality.  Check out their fabulous Trend Board, let your creative juices flow and then submit your design!  Don’t forget to tweet, tumble and Facebook your design so that all of your friends and family can vote for you!
