While perusing the oh-so fashion forward attendees at the Art Institute of Atlanta‘s showcase, we stumbled upon three lovey ladies–all donning one of our favorite new trends: the maxi skirt.

Kathleen Brewton (Augusta State University) and Ali Rosenberger (UGA), pictured middle and right, were working the look, and we just had to know where they got these pieces. Much to our surprise, all three looks–including jewelry–were created by student designer Keaton Sanders. Feeling hippie? Then drop those hemlines girls. This is one trend your mama will let you walk out of the house in. Groovy!

Polka dots of every size made their mark on the Autumn/Winter 2011 runway on everything from formal wear to outerwear.  Many associate polka dots with the summer and spring, but this season top designers like Stella McCartney, DVF, Gucci, Lanvin and Marc Jacobs have us all seeing spots for the fall.

The great thing about this trend is that you can get spots on everything from a feminine dress to rocker accessories.  And what’s more, these dots are slimming for any shape and size.  Super sized spots can be shocking to the eye so limit yourself to just one polka-dotted piece.  Petite women may prefer fewer dots and shorter skirts, but polka dots definitely have a place in the fall wardrobe this year.  If you’re worried about being seen in a loud polka dot dress, then just add a spotted accessory for a subtle take on the look.
