No, not the fish. The color! It’s such an unexpected hue for autumn, but it has sure made its way around campus. From the Frat-Stars to my Health teacher, and Alyna F. (who’s rockin’ it here!), I have seen so many pairs of this pinky-orange colored pant strutting around! And I can’t say I hate it. Alyna F., is a first year Business Administration major, and good friend of mine. I had to snag her for a quickie photo-opp because I simply adored her take on the salmon craze. Read more >
I definitely burst out laughing when Alece P. explained that her style could pretty much be summed up as “old man” inspired. What? All I could see was the perfect mixture of dainty and fun. Read more >
Vivian W., a 2nd year Business Administration and Marketing major was caught paying British homage with her adorable Union Jack sweater. An exchange student from Japan, Vivian was also sporting a huge trend this season, polka dots. I was especially fond of her mix of prints and textures. After chatting with Vivian about her style I learned about a Japanese fashion term “Kawaii,” which in English can be defined as “Really Cute-sy.” Vivian also explained that Kawaii is a combination of very girly, dainty pieces mixed in with a little preppy vintage. Vivian has this look down to a science and enjoys being creative with it. Most of her fabulous Kawaii collection has come from Japanese brands, but when she is shopping in the US of A she’s a big fan of Abercrombie. I love the diversity of both people and their styles at Georgia Tech. Everyday I learn something new about another culture and am forever expanding my global fashion lingo! Read more >
As I was signing in at the reception desk for a meeting, I noticed the lovely pop of blue behind the desk. Shannon Wilson, a recent alumni, (having graduated last semester) was totally rocking a bright teal shift dress. We began discussing where Shannon likes to shop and she responded “anywhere with a sale!”
STUDIO is the mega course of Industrial Design in which students create and IDEATE for hours on end. REVIEW is the cause of SLEEPLESS, RESTLESS, and STRESSFUL alnighters as it is the time when all of ID students present their work. While some let these NERVEWRACKING nights dilute their stylish tastes, OTHERS make review a chance to SHOWCASE their FIERCEST attire.
Salmon pink pants, gray blazer, and a polka dot bow tie; Mason G.’s recipe for a perfect outfit! Mason G., a 2nd year Electrical Engineer was hanging in out Student Center when I noticed his very cool, very classy outfit. I instantly knew I would have to get the scoop on his style. Mason is no stranger to color and makes a habit out of bow ties. Mason’s look, inspired by many trips to Brooks Brothers, is one that he describes as “seasonal chic.” He joked around saying that this was a “decent dress day.” This is an all too familiar reference to the fact that as college kids there are just some days we get out of bed -20 minutes late!- glance in the closet and decide it’ll just be a shorts and t-shirt day. I’d be the biggest hypocrite in the world if I didn’t admit to having those lazy dress days also. That’s why it’s sooo refreshing to see someone who put a little creativity into his/her outfit! So shake out of that tshirt slump {and into an outfit that doesn’t consist of running shorts.} We’ve all got to work on getting rid of that “I slept through my alarm” look. Tomorrow morning try on a little creativity (and keep it classy!).
Leslie Burtz, a third-year Business Administration and Spanish major has the perfect winter ensemble down to a science. From the classic bomber jacket to the tweed mini paired with tights, this look is totally city chic. To help her brace the cold, Leslie accented her outfit by mixing in a pop of color with her yellow scarf. Fall is the best time to experiment with layers of all different colors and textures so be adventurous, and try out new outfit combos using different pieces to layer against the chill.
I caught up with 3rd year Business Administration and IT major, Kim L., at the Jonah Hill “Allen Gregory” premiere. Kim, who worked as a Victoria’s Secret PINK campus rep to Georgia Tech last year, explains her style as one that involves taking risks. I was in awe when she reported that her extremely cool hiking ankle boots cost her a mere $10 at Urban Outfitters! I immediately made plans to visit an UO! With an admiration for tailored pieces, and all things BCBG and French Connection, Kim says that she buys pieces that are well-made and classic, to last her through the seasons. “It’s important to keep in mind that though well-made apparel can be pricey, it will last for years. So if I’m going to use a cliché to conclude, I think I’ll choose “Quality over Quantity.”
Unfortunately summer is over, but thank goodness that doesn’t keep our floral jumpsuits in the closet. Industrial Engineer freshman, Nellie Wong, looked incredibly cute in her soft yellow Modcloth jumpsuit. And while we’ve welcomed fall with open arms, longing for warm scarves and riding boots, the weather seems to be stuck in a state of confusion. Read more >
Alex West, a third year Finance and Accounting Business student (and also pursuing a minor in Economics!), was hard to ignore in his pop of color aqua v-neck. His look instantly had me realize that he’s one of those people (of whom I am completely envious) that dresses effortlessly and still manages to look great! Read more >
