Keeping it Campaign Cool

As summer sneaks up, the weather is getting hot and so is the CAMPAIGN TRAIL!

Running for the Georgia Tech Student Body PRESIDENT, third year Industrial Engineer, Eran Mordel keeps it COOL in his signature BANANA REPUBLIC button-downs. Eran describes his look as “clean-cut and simple.” And jeans are always a must! Whether hanging out or sprucing it up in business casual, a nice pair of jeans is Eran’s go-to.

Seeking Executive VICE PRESIDENT, third year Business Administration major, Amit Khanduri, likes it a little flashy, rocking his “too COOL for school” yellow canvas deck shoes! Amit puts his trust in H&M and URBAN OUTFITTERS when picking his election ensembles. “Bright, affordable, and semi-preppy,” is Amit’s style tagline. He also has an impressive collection of shoes.

SPARK 2012, is the promise of Eran and Amit, to ENERGIZE and INVOLVE campus! I can’t think of anything more appropriate as the weather heats up and and the shorts come out! Campus is now covered in sun-seekers, and those looking to spend time lying in the grass (…ME!).

I don’t know about you, but I’d sure want my Presidential team to dress like these guys! Eran and Amit have my vote!

Ultra: Madonna + Avicii

For those of you that were lucky to get down to Miami for the Ultra Music Festival, we hate you. Many of us were stuck at our computers watching the live feed and praying that we can make it down to the sunny beaches of Florida next year.

Georgia Tech’s own Raj Desai represents the best of the west. From Orange County, California, Raj lives the life of luxury as one of the ultimate surfers. The laid back and cool attitude he carries with himself while he’s catching the waves can be seen in his throw back, hipster wardrobe dominated by Urban Outfitters. His grunge green Toms are unique and subtle while nicely complementing his suave beanie. When East coast meets West coast, everything is chill.

Schooled in Comfort

As a biology student, Brooke can often be found buried beneath piles of books and study guides, hair tied up into a messy bun without much notice of appearance (according to her.) However, if this is her idea of a messy, tired college student, then pass some my way, please.

“I can’t pass up a flannel shirt. There is something really comfortable about them and with today’s chilly weather this shirt seemed perfect. Not to mention you can always find them at reasonable prices,” says Brooke.

Brooke is a self-proclaimed bargain shopper, able to find steals wherever she goes. Wearing a hat from forever 21, jewelry from Charming Charlie’s, and Boots from DSW she believes “that it’s the accessories that speak to your style.” Her outfit exudes comfort and finds a nice balance between following the trends and staying true to her own individual style.

Popping That Personality

After our PERSONALITY THEORY class, Vett Vandiver (what a movie star name!) was kind enough to allow me to take a few pics of her very cool outfit. Like our Psychology class, her outfit was very much driven by her personality. Vett, a third year STAC (Society, Technology, and Culture) major describes her style as a classic union of old and new. She insists that there be at least one piece of VINTAGE clothing mixed into her ensemble and a POP of something fun.

I’d say she has this down to a science as seen here with her bright cherry mini topped with a clean and classic white blazer. LOVE IT. Your outfit doesn’t have to be a walking representation of your JUNG and BRIGGS MYERS Personality type but it should give a quick glimpse of your persona. Introverts…Extroverts…Introextroverts…doesn’t matter what you are, stay true to you and POP that PERSONALITY.

New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year to all theCampusStyle readers out there! 2011 was a great year. Freshmen got to experience the fun and hardships of being in their first year away from home. Sophomores, now acclimated to school, got to enjoy themselves and start taking classes for their major. Juniors have one semester down and are now getting ready to travel abroad and seniors are getting ready to graduate! Crazy! As the year comes to a close, its always important, especially for students, to make a list of a few things that can better ourselves and our education. Now, how are we going to make this year even bigger and better? With 3 easy resolutions, I say.

Resolutions are annoying and hard to keep. But these three, simple tips will make your year easier and breezier.

Our first resolution is to… buy a day planner. It seems silly, but it will be your new best friend. You can use your planner to write everything down so you don’t forget a thing. You can keep track of your assignments, quizzes, tests, parties, dates and much more. You can pick a cute and stylish one , like this Kate Spade organizer, that fits your personality. A whole New Year planner for a whole new you!

Next resolution…. organize our closet! College closets are normally tiny. It’s hard to see what you have and you often forget about the great things you own! These 7 easy steps can literally change your life.

1. Store your most-used items in plain sight, less-used items below, and least-used items up high.

2. Combine storage units to fit your different needs: drawers for folded items, hangers for dresses and suits, boxes for odds and ends.

3. Use boxes, cubbies, shelves, or a hanging organizer to sort shoes.

4. Use hooks. They can create extra storage space when you hang them inside the closet or on your walls.

6. Use color-coding! You will find things easier.

7. Use suitcases to store out-of-season linens, blankets, or sweaters

Ooh la la! A perfectly organized closed!

Our last resolution is…to stock up the fridge with fresh fruits and veggies. Right after you buy the produce, slice it up and put the in plastic containers in plain view in the refrigerator. When you are coming home from class and you are starving, you will have a snack on hand, ready to eat!

I promise, if you keep these 3 resolutions up, you will be sure to have an organized, happy, healthy, fun and stylish 2012!
