Two weekends ago, nestled in the heart of Atlanta’s hippest community, there occurred one awe inspiring and mind jogging artistic festival. Specifically, a lights festival–and experimental lights festival to be precise, which many designers used as an outlet to express their ideas of what lighting can or should be. Read more >
ABV Gallery of Atlanta hosts a “Drink and Doodle” every month at their swanky spot located on Auburn Avenue. Each month, 12 artists gather at a table and get down to business. For a few hours they create new work, all for your viewing pleasure. At the end of the doodle session (and after a few cocktails), all pieces take their place on the gallery’s walls and are up for sale.
Not only is this event FREE, but you also get to mingle with the very artist whose masterpiece may end up in your living room. Oh, and did I mention they offer complimentary drinks, snacks and awesome jams from the DJ?
Making art accessible also makes it cool so check out ABV’s schedule for a full list of projects and upcoming events.

Wednesday evening in Midtown Atlanta was full of pop flair as iconic designer Karim Rashid visited the Pedini Showroom to speak on individualism and trends in the design world. TCS bloggers Heidi Vreeland, Mahwesh Hansraj & Jessica Hunt were on the spot and got to meet the flavorful fellow. Karim stayed until 10PM socializing with guests and signing copies of his book, KarimSpace. Many of his funky fresh product designs were on display, including the Sym Barstool shown above. The event was hosted in conjunction with the Museum of Design Atlanta, and was catered by Brian Harris, Executive Chef of Fusion Café & Catering Inc.

After kicking off the year with a busy schedule, The Campus Style’s own Jessica H. needed a weekend break from Wet/Gross/Cold-lanta, and ventured to Savannah with Kipper the dog. In lieu of the typical PVC rainboot fare, Jessica opted for a sturdy pair of equally waterproof BCBG motorcyle boots to explore River Street. Her trick to staying warm without getting bulky? A trim boiled wool cardigan by Geiger – lightweight, fresh, and fitting for the first bursts of Spring.
Check out the art gallery she found off City Market, A.T. Hun – We love the tribute to the Dude (Big Lebowski, anyone?), funky fresh color selections, super sweet staff, and how dog-friendly A.T. Hun and Savannah overall are – Kipper was warmly greeted at most boutiques and shops, and got treats everywhere from Marc Jacobs to just being cute in Market Square!
Meet Wes B., (SCAD ATL), and Eric C., (Morehouse) who we caught front and center with head to toe energy. Note that us lesser than Gaga mortals can’t cough up the dough McQueen Armadillo shoes (nor are they even available?) . So what do talented stiletto hungry dudes to do? Make their own. Freaking geniuses, if you ask moi. We had to give them props at A.Lake’s Saturday night fashion show in Atlantic Station. The future of fashion is looking bright, boys.
Save the trees, please! Well, except in the case of beautiful wooden sculptures at Mason Murer Gallery in Buckhead. Everything is digital these days – so we don’t feel guilty immortalizing them into works of art.
Wow, he’s a real boy: Stylish young man with a serious know-how for what is fashionable. Meet Marcus John, a Georgia State student who does more than write papers and study. He’s making big moves in the city as a wardrobe stylist. When GA City Style met with Marcus, it was stylistic bliss. We had to know more about what defines him and how he got into the biz so we let him humor us with a few answers to our questions.
Has the ATL been your home or do we have another city to thank for letting us borrow your creative talent?
